Student Exchange Program
Mr. Ahmad El Ouweini
in Croatia
My journey has given me generously numerous priceless gifts that elevated my life to a higher and far better position than it was before I ride on the airplane flying away from home. Below are the two most impressive ones that I am sharing with you to know what an impact a traveling will have in your life.
The first gift was the spectacular natural scenes and heaven-like pieces of art that I enjoyed while exploring different cities and hidden spots in lovely Croatia. Mountains, parks, lakes, sea costs, museums, restaurants, historical city walks, and much more. Not only that, but the welcoming, helpful, and charming characters of Croatian people also make you experience even more pleasant and remarkable.
The second gift was the life-long, unbreakable, honest friendship that I made throughout my stay. The stunning and long-lasting pleasant moments of any journey are acquired by the people you spend time with, which is far more important than the uniqeness and beauty of the place, and luckily I had both in my journey to Croatia.

I have exactly one word for the SEP program: “It’s AWESOME!”. The highlight of my summer 2017 was my exchange in Bulgaria. And I have to say that besides the rich culture and pharmacy learning I got to experience, I had the opportunity to step out of my comfort zone and really find myself. SEP was such an empowering journey that brought me back to my country with a new perspective of who I am, what I want, and how I want my life to be..

I had a wonderful experience during my internship in France. I was placed in the pharmacy of a hospital serving 2100 beds. I participated in the multiple daily tasks that took place in the pharmacy (dispensing medication, medical devices, compounding, preparation of chemotherapy and nutrition formulas). The staff was very welcoming to foreign students, and I got the opportunity to learn about pharmacy practice in a more advanced and different environment than ours in Lebanon. I also met some amazing local french students that I am still in contact with, and hope to see them again in the future. A SEP weekend was prepared for all the incoming students, such as myself, where we visited touristic attractions, in addition to other fun activities that were prepared in honor of all incoming students. I encourage everyone to apply to the Student Exchange Program and I hope you all have an experience as memorable as mine!

My SEP experience in Gdańsk, Poland was life-changing! Be it the practice itself, at the Medical University of Gdańsk, which is a great addition to one’s professional experience. Or the city’s mesmerizing combo of historical polish soul and new city life. It has it all! And finally, meeting new people from around the world! I'd do it all again!
Ms. Farah Salhab
in Romania
My SEP experience was truly one of a kind! I went for SEP in Romania where I spent 15 days in the city if Craiova. There, I interned in a community pharmacy where I was exposed to compounding techniques and their own process of dispensing and patient counseling. Aside from that I was introduced to their beautiful culture, historical cities, old museums and much more. And the best part was meeting lots of friendly people and international pharmacy students that become lifelong friends.
If you want to broaden your skills to much more than just theoretical studying and get to know how the pharmacy practice is in places from around the world, let alone making international friends, SEP is all what you need!
Student Exchange Program (SEP) has been one of the longest standing and most popular IPSF initiative since the formation of the Federation in 1949.
Student Exchange Program (SEP) is one of the main activities in IPSF. It is a mobility program that gives students from all over the world the opportunity to get to know pharmacy in a different country. The member associations of IPSF organize the exchanges by finding host sites where the students are trained. The program runs throughout the year, but the majority of the exchanges take place between May and September. The length is usually 1 to 3 months, and possible host sites include retail pharmacies, hospital pharmacies, wholesale companies, pharmaceutical industry, pharmacy schools, government, and private health agencies. The host may also provide room, board and/or pocket money in addition to the training site in order to help the student.
Member associations of IPSF are eligible to be part of SEP. A member association in a particular country accepts students from exchange year each year, and can then send out students for exchange. For every 2 students accepted, 3 students can be sent out.
Students who are in university and majoring in pharmacy are eligible for SEP. Keep in mind, the student must be a member of IPSF too. Unfortunately, graduated students cannot participate in SEP.
Students who are accepted to participate get to choose up to 3 countries they wish to go to If accepted, their exchange is arranged through the student exchange officer in the host country. The student is responsible for:
If not accepted for an exchange, students are eligible for an 18-euro refund.
Each student is required to pay the IPSF SEP fee of 42 Euros.
Member associations may charge more, however, additional fees must be approved by the Chairperson of the Student Exchange.
